Obituary

Worcester – William H. Amidon, 78, of Worcester died on December 29th, in his home after being stricken ill.

Mr. Amidon is survived by five sons, Richard M. Amidon of Florida, Keith R. and his wife, Carole Amidon of Worcester, William H. and his wife, Kim Amidon of Barre, Scot T. and his wife, Michelle Amidon of Worcester and Ernest T. Amidon of Worcester; two brothers, Bruce L. Amidon of Fitchburg and Douglas Kenney of MA; two sisters, Phyllis A. Benoit of Cherry Valley and Joyce C. D’Ambra of Worcester; a close friend Josephine DiTerlizzi of Shrewsbury; 8 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild and many nephews and nieces. Mr. Amidon was born in Worcester son William H. Amadon and Dorothy (Vickstrom) Amadon Kenney and lived in Worcester for all of his life.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, and served with the National Ski Patrol.

Bill worked at many local bakeries, and later owned and operated the former Mitchell’s Bakery on Main Street in Worcester for many years until his retirement. He was a member of the Froshinn Club in Shrewsbury and the Masonic Lodge in Auburn. Bill enjoyed listening to jazz music as well as dancing. He also an avid fan of boxing.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, January 2nd, at 12 Noon in the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home, 12 Hammond Street. Burial will follow with Military Honors in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are on Tuesday, January 1st, from 4 to 7 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Mr. Amidon’s memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association, MA Office 330 Congress Street, 5th Floor Boston, MA 02110.
