Obituary

Richard Barr Tucker 80Richard B Tucker, a resident of Needham for over 56 years died on Friday Jan 17th at the Sunrise Nursing Home of Wayland. Born in Norwood, he graduated from Harvard in 1944 and served as a sergeant in Army Intelligence in the South Pacific during WW11. After the war he worked as a store manager for Filenes and later as a production manager at Neeco. In later life he found his calling as a freelance writer of juvenile fiction. He was active in youth programs as a longtime Cubmaster and Boy Scout Troop leader. He taught Sunday School for 29 years at the Needham Congregational Church, where he also served as Deacon. An avid Water skier and boating Enthusiast, he was active in youth sailing programs and served as Commodore of the Mashnee Yacht Club.He is survived by his wife Marjorie David Tucker; his children, William D. Tucker of Newport Beach, CA, Nancy T Screen of Stow, MA, Robert D Tucker of Winthrop, ME and Donald B. Tucker of Byfield, MA; his brother, Theodore F. Tucker of Walpole MA and five grandchildren, Lauren T Brayton of Somers CT, Michael, Kristin, and Katrina Screen of Stow, MA and Skyler Tucker of Byfield MA. A memorial service was/will be held on Wednesday Jan. 22 at 10:00 A.M. from the Needham Congregational Church, 1154 Great Plain Ave. Needham, Ma 02492. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Needham Congregational Church. Burial will be at the National Cemetery in Bourne. Arrangements by the Eaton Funeral Home of Needham.
