Robert M. Valente, 58 passed away on December 26th, 2007 at the Veterans Memorial Hospital in Altoona, PA. He was born in Boston on December 15th, 1949 to his parents James A. and Claire (McGlynn) Valente. Robert was raised and educated in Medford, attending the St. James School and Medford High School. After High School, he began his career in the military serving in the U.S. Army. He was stationed in many different parts of the world during his 25 years of service including a 13 month tour of Vietnam during the Vietnam War. He was a devoted father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family. Robert is survived by his children Allyson Valente of Johnstown, PA and Christopher Valente and his wife Rebecca of Johnstown, PA; his grandchildren Olivia, Ian and Nathanael; his parents James A. and Claire (McGlynn) Valente of Melrose; his siblings Patricia Parker of Saugus, Bradford Valente of Derry, NH, Chris Valente of Hanover, Paul Valente of Wilmington, Marybeth McConaghy of Melrose, John Valente of Melrose, Regina Salsman of Malden and Donna Valente Murphy of Melrose. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and many cousins. Robert was predeceased by his brothers Richard and James Valente. Funeral from the A.J. Breslin & Son Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden at Medford line on Monday December 31st at 8 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden at 9 AM. Relatives & friends are invited to attend. Services on Monday will conclude with interment in Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday December 30th from 2-6 PM.
