Marguerite M. Penney

...retired L.P.N. at Tewksbury Hospital; 85

TEWKSBURY - Mrs. Marguerite M. “Peg” (McCusker) Penney, age 85, the matriarch of a wellknown Tewksbury family, died Monday morning, January 20, at her home after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Everett F. Penney Sr., who died in 1978.

She was born in Lowell, a daughter of the late John E. and Marguerite (Hession) McCusker. Shewas raised in the Sacred Heart Parish in Lowell, attended Sacred Heart School, and graduatedfrom Lowell High School in 1936. She had resided at the Fiske Street family farm in Tewksbury since 1941.

She graduated from the Tewksbury Hospital School of Nursing in 1939, and retired from thehospital nursing department after serving as an L.P.N. for more than 34 years. She was a memberof the A.F.S.C.M.E. union.

Her family was among the founding families of St. Robert Bellarmine Church in West Andover,where she remained active throughout her life.

She was active in her senior years as a visitor to the Tewksbury Senior Drop-In Center, and was amember of the Tewksbury Golden Age Club.

She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law; Everett F. Jr. and his wife Claire (Landry-Hovey) Penney of Dracut, Raymond C. and his wife Kathleen (Quinn) Penney of Tewksbury,Daniel J. and his wife Alicia (Coughlin) Penney of Conn., three daughters; Peggy (Penney) andher husband Robert Black of Tewksbury, Kathleen G. (Penney) and her husband RaymondBowles of Chelmsford, Theresa (Penney) and her husband John Burgos of N.J., a daughter-in-law; Claire (Doherty) Penney of Tewksbury; one brother and two sisters-in-law; Francis “Frank”and his wife Jeanette (Aubut) McCusker of Tewksbury, and Gladys (Penney) Bancroft ofTewksbury, 18 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

She was also mother of the late John E. “Jack” Penney who died in 1976, and sister of the lateMary Mikalopos and John McCusker.

HerFuneral Mass was celebrated Thursday, Jan 23, in St. Robert Bellarmine Church, W. Andover. Interment was in Tewksbury Cemetery.
