WORCESTER-Maria J. (Azzopardi) Fotiadis, 63, of Worcester, died Monday, December 24th in UMass-Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She leaves her husband of 45 years, Philip Fotiadis; her son, George P. and his wife, Suzanne L. Fotiadis of O’Fallon, MO; her daughter, Rita, wife of Bill G. Vasiliadis of Worcester; a brother, Carl and his wife, Resheda Azzopardi of Lakewood, NJ; a sister, Rita O’Shaughnessy of Phoenix, AZ; 5 grandchildren, George, Maria and Philip Vasiliadis and Julia and Olivia Fotiadis; many nephews and nieces.
She was born in Cardiff, South Wales the daughter of Joseph and Doris (Elias) Azzopardi; and had worked as a sales associate in retail sales for many years. Mrs. Fotiadis was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, served as past president of its Mother’s Guild, a member the Ladies Philoptochos, the Daughters of Penelope and was a dedicated volunteer at the Cathedral’s Greek Festivals and other programs. Her greatest passion was time spent with her beloved husband and their grandchildren; she enjoyed travel and being with family and friends.
The funeral is Saturday, December 29th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a service at 10:00 AM in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday, December 28th from 4:00 until 7:00 PM in the funeral home.
