Robert J. “Bob” Jobin, 92, of Manchester, died December 21, 2007, at St. Teresa Health Care Center after a period of declining health.
He was born in Manchester, August 1, 1915, and was the son of Elzear and Marie-Anne (Duhamel) Jobin. He was a lifelong resident of Manchester.
Mr. Jobin worked as a sheet metal foreman for AW Therrien Roofing Co. for 50 years.
He served as a Manchester Highway Commissioner for 30 years. He also served on the Manchester School Board and as a cemetery trustee.
He was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, the League of a 1000 Men of the Precious Blood Monastery, and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also on the board of directors of L’Union St. Jean Baptiste.
Mr. Jobin was a longtime communicant of the former St. Therese Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. He was also captain of the 300 Club of St. Therese Parish. He was presently a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church.
He worked with Holy Cross bingo for 30 years and was instrumental in building Rosary Hall at Villa Augustina.
He was predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Lucienne “Lou” (Bourassa) Jobin, who died in 2003, and by a daughter, Diane Jobin, who died in 1947.
Family members include two sons, Donald Jobin, of Manchester, and Richard Jobin, of Attleboro, MA; a daughter, Mrs. Maurice (Gloria) Pilotte, of Manchester; 12 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Friday December 28, 2007 at Blessed Sacrament Church. Burial followed in St. Augustin Cemetery.
