Salem: Veronique (Valerius) Joseph age 88 of Salem, died, unexpectedly, Wednesday, December 19, 2007, at the NSMC / Salem Hospital. She was the wife of the late Cineus Joseph.
Born and raised in Haiti, she was the daughter of the late Valcime and Julie (Volcy) Valerius. A resident of Haiti for most of her life, over the years, Mrs. Joseph visited her family living in the greater Salem area. Several years after her husband Cineus died in Haiti, she moved to Salem to be with her family. She was a member of the former St. Joseph Parish of Salem.
Mrs. Joseph is survived by 2 daughters: Marie Alexandre of Salem and Irma Alexandre of Brooklyn, NY, a son, Frentz Joseph of Salem, 4 sisters: Carmen, Marie Therese, Valderine and Clemence all of Haiti. She is also survived by 9 godchildren: Lionel & Alourde Nelson, Jean Francois Vulgay, Antoine Lyra, Mathon & Gesner Valerius, Carol, Bernadette & Huberman Derose. She was predeceased by her son Yvon Joseph
Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral on Monday, December 24, 2007, at 9 am from the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St., [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem, followed by her funeral mass in St. James Church, Federal St., Salem at 10 am.
