Obituary

H. Potter Trainer, Jr., 86, of Mattapoisett died Monday December 17, 2007 suddenly at St. Luke's Hospital. He was the husband of Margaret (MacDonald) Weymouth Trainer and the late Elinor (Burnett) Trainer.

Born in Boston and raised in Waban, the son of the late Harry P. and Anne (Harvey) Trainer, he lived in Middleboro for 20 years before moving to Mattapoisett 20 years ago. He was a graduate of Phillips Andover Academy and the University of Arizona School of Mining.

Mr. Trainer was the retired president and founder of the Trainer Company.

He was an avid sailor, boat builder, bicyclist, and conservationist. He served on the Middleboro Conservation Commission and the Mattapoisett Bike Path Committee.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Rusty Keilch and her husband John of Berkley, CA, and Jennifer Thompson and her husband Joseph, of Williamstown; three stepsons, Douglas Weymouth and his wife Lynnette of Florida, Bruce Weymouth and his wife Julie of Maine, and Scott Weymouth and his wife Kate of Rhode Island; his special niece, Susan Hamel of Wareham; two sisters, Nancy Ramsden of Wilmington, NC, and Phoebe Meehan of Little Compton, RI; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

He was the father of the late Celia Trainer.

His Memorial Service will be held on Saturday at 2 PM in the Mattapoisett Congregational Church. Burial in Cushing Cemetery will be private. Visiting hours are omitted.
