Obituary

WORCESTER___Mrs. Grace L. (Angers) Adams of Worcester passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on December 17, 2007. Her husband of 51 years, Lawrence Adams died in 1992.

She leaves two sons, Larry A. Adams of Worcester and Paul B. Adams of Auburn; three daughters, Suzanne L. Keddy of Worcester and Jeanne M. Hanley and Carol A. Mercurio both of Dennis with whom she lived, her brother, Bertrand Angers of Worcester; 16 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by two brothers, Aime “Sam” and Eudore “Zip” Angers and a sister, Eva Ruth. She was born in Holyoke, a daughter of Albert and Lea (Lemay) Angers and lived in Worcester most of her life.

Mrs. Adams graduated from St. Joseph Grammar School & High School. She worked in the school cafeteria at Forest Grove, Grafton Street breakfast program and Worcester East Middle Schools before retiring in 1980.

She was a long time member, past historian, chaplain and past president of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 323 Grafton Hill and was also on two installing teams. She was chairperson of the Worcester State Hospital bingo parties and completed 4000 hours of volunteer work in community service. She was also a member of U.S.S. Old Ironside Auxiliary unit 423.

Grace was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed crocheting and jigsaw puzzles.

The Mass celebrating Grace’s life will be held on Friday December 21 at 11:00 am in St. Stephen Church, 357 Grafton St. Entombment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum. Calling hours are Thursday December 20 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm in DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton St. The family wishes that flowers be omitted. Memorial contributions may be made instead to St. Stephen Church, 16 Hamilton St, Worcester, MA 01604 or to St. Joseph Church, 5 Whitman Rd, Worcester, Ma 01609.
