Marguerite B. Forget, 89, formerly of Elm St., Woonsocket, died Tuesday in Mt. St. Francis Health Center. She was born in Woonsocket, a daughter of the late Augustin and Honora (Galipeau) Forget. Miss Forget retired in 1983 from Rhode Island Hospital Trust as a bank branch secretary were she worked since 1938.
Her many activities and ministries include over 50 years as a member of the St Ann’s Choir. She was a member and officer of the St. Ann’s Parish Council, Finance Council, and the Ladies Guild. Miss Forget was a committee member of the Saint Ann’s Parish Centennial History Book published in 1990, and was honored by the Centennial Committee for a life time of service to the parish. As a member of St. Ann’s Religious Committee she served as a private tutor to adults for the RCIA program. She volunteered as a secretary and bookkeeper for the parish school. Miss Forget was the recipient of the Rev. Msgr. Thomas J. McKitchen Memorial Award for meritorious service on behalf of the Catholic Charities in 1991.
She is immortalized in the frescoes of St. Ann’s Church, Professor Guido Nincheri, the artist responsible for the beautiful paintings in the church chose her face for the Angels depicting Faith, Hope and Charity.
Marguerite is survived by seven cousins, Daniel Putnam, of Harwich, MA, Margaret Putnam, of Brewster, MA, Helen Avery, of Harwich, MA, Richard Putnam, of Hubbardston, MA, Bert Galipeau, of Bellingham, MA, George Galipeau, of Montgomery, MA, Irene Galipeau, of Norwich, CT., and special friends Diane, Kit, and daughter Victoria Mei Mayers of Woonsocket.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday at 11:00 am. in All Saints Church, Rathbun St. Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery in Bellingham. Visiting hours are omitted.
