John J. Joyce
...retired from Monsanto, formerly of Tewksbury; 86
EFFINGHAM, NH - John Joseph Joyce, a WWII Army Veteran and former Tewksbury resident, died Tuesday morning, December 18, at the Huggins Hospital in Wolfboro, NH. He was the husband of Dorothy A. (Joyce) Joyce, who died on April 1, 2007.
He was born in Everett, June 30, 1921, a son of the late Charles and Evelyn (McAleer) Joyce, and was raised in Everett. He interrupted his education to enter into the Army and served in the European Theater just prior to the Allied victory in Europe. He served out the remainder of his enlistment stateside. Upon discharge, he finished his education, and received his high school diploma.
He worked his entire career at the Monsanto Chemical company in Everett, and retired as a mechanical engineer.
Mr. Joyce lived the greater part of his life in Tewksbury, but moved to the home of his daughter in the Ossippee area of New Hampshire two years ago due to aging issues.
He, along with his wife, was an avid horse racing fan, and summered in Scarboro Downs, in Maine.
He is survived by three daughters, Jo-Ann Joyce of Tewksbury, Judith Boyce and her husband Henry of N.C., and Janet Hepburn, of Effingham, with whom he resided; a son, John Joyce, and his wife Oko of NY; a sister, Dorothy Mazzapica and her husband Charles of FL; a sister-in-law, Tootsie Joyce of Everett; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

His Funeral Service was held Dec. 21, in the funeral home. Burial with Army honors was in Tewksbury Cemetery. Memorials to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105-1942 will be appreciated.
