New Bedford - Herbert F. Peets, 77, of New Bedford, passed away Sunday, December 16, 2007 at St. Luke’s Hospital after a long illness.
Born in Mattapoisett, son of the late John E. Peets and the late Eva C. (Wordell) Peroni, he had lived in New Bedford and Florida for most of his life. Prior to retirement, he was the owner of the former Sea Hawk Bait & Tackle in New Bedford and he also worked for A W Scrap Metal and Gilmonds Liguire both of New Bedford. Mr. Peets loved fishing, it was his life, after retiring from his bait shop business he moved to Florida for 18 years to fish, eventually moving back to New Bedford about a year ago.
Survivors include 2 daughters: Susan Carey of New Bedford and Sandra Coe of New Bedford; a son: John Peets of FL; a sister: Minerva Pypec of New Bedford; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was brother of the late Henry Peets, Raymond Peets, Ralph Wordell and Edith Borges.

Funeral will be Thursday, December 20, 2007 at the Kirby Funeral Home at 10:00 A.M.
Interment in Maple Grove Cemetery, Westport.
