New Bedford – Alberto M. Vicente, aged 73 years, died unexpectedly Friday, December 14, 2007 at St. Luke's Hospital. Mr. Vicente was the beloved husband of Elzira C. (Sousa) Vicente of New Bedford. He was the father of Roy Vicente, Captain Steven Vicente and his wife Leslie, Grace Gibbs and her husband Patrick and Linda Vicente all of New Bedford and Peggy Vicente of Acushnet. Mr. Vicente was the beloved vavo of Scott, Sasha, Tyler, Lucas and Joey Vicente, Jocelyn Gagne, Cameron and Collin Gibbs, and Darren and Kelsey Pimentel; great-grandfather of Cierra and Devon Vicente and he is also survived by 2 nieces.
Mr. Vicente was a son of the late Joseph and Olivia (Sousa) Vicente. He was born in St. Michael, Azores, Portugal and lived in this area since 1957. Mr. Vicente was formerly employed as a loom fixer and weaver for Satkin Mills. He was a member of the Sacred Heart League, an avid F.C. Porto Soccer fan and a Boston Red Sox fan.
Mr. Vicente’s Funeral is from the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St., on Tuesday at 9:30 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours are on Monday from 6 - 9 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
