Sister Rachel Anderson, CSC (Sister Mary David Henry), 70, of Nashua, NH, died December 11, 2007, in St. George Manor.
She was born on June 12, 1937, in North Grosvenordale, CT, and was the daughter of Henry and Josephine (Gagne) Anderson.
Sister Rachel entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Holy Cross in 1958 and made her final profession in 1965.
She served the congregation for 49 years.
Sister Rachel earned a B.A. from Notre Dame College, Manchester, NH and an M.A. from Fairfield University, Fairfield CT. She taught elementary and junior high schools under the direction of the Sisters of Holy Cross in Westport and Attleboro, MA; St. Albans, VT; Somersworth, and Nashua, NH and Groton CT. She also served as Principal of Sacred Heart School, Groton, CT and as an instructor, secretary, and registrar of Notre Dame College, Manchester, NH for eight years. Sister Rachel was an Administrative Assistant in the Diocesan School Office in Norwich, CT.
Since 2004 to the present, Sister Rachel had been the Coordinator of Religious Education at Holy Infant Jesus Parish in Nashua NH.
She was a poet and published a book of poetry entitled Gentle Whisperings of the Heart. She also has written another book that is soon to be released. Her vivid pen has touched many persons especially her Sisters in Holy Cross. Sister Rachel was a member of Poets for Integrity.
She leaves a sister, Therese Choiniere of Webster, MA; a brother, Richard Anderson of No. Grosvenordale, CT; several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Friday December 14, 2007 in St. George Manor, 357 Island Pond Rd. Manchester, NH.
Burial followed in St. Augustin Cemetery, Manchester, NH.
