David R. Ober, 78 of Franklin died December 7 in his home following a long illness. He was the husband of Elizabeth J. (Bederian) Ober for the past 52 years.
Born in Franklin, December 31, 1929 the son of the late Francis and Anna (Holland) Ober, Mr. Ober was a lifelong Franklin resident.
Mr. Ober was a 1947 graduate of Franklin High School.
Mr. Ober had owned and operated Ober’s Express in Franklin for many years. This family business was begun by his father in 1929.
Mr. Ober loved gardening, reading and especially to decorate his home with memorable decorations for all the Holidays.
Mr. Ober served in the Army during the Korean War attaining the rank of Lt. First Class. He was awarded Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, the National Defense Service Medal and United Nations Service Medal.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Catherine McCahill and her husband, Bernard of Franklin, Cynthia Bertoni of Franklin, Candace Forte and her husband, John of Franklin, Carol Lynne Lange and her husband, Brett of Franklin and Cheryl Costa and her husband, Brian of Keene, NH.
He was the brother of the late Francis and Donald Ober and Elizabeth Molloy.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Suzanne Ruf, Todd Bertoni, Bernard McCahill IV, Elizabeth McCahill, Alicia, Ryan and Brianna Forte and Cullen and Cailyn Costa.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday, December 12 from the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin 131 Main St., Franklin at 8:15 followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, Church Square, at 9:00 a.m.
Burial will be in Union Street Cemetery in Franklin.
Calling hours will be on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m.
