Obituary

WORCESTER-Ima (Salmonsen) Anderson, 86, passed away Thursday, Dec. 6.

Her husband of 50 years, Herbert E. Anderson passed away in 1995. She leaves her son Dr. Wayne Anderson and his wife Donna of Raleigh, NC; her daughter, Peggy and her husband Brian Pierce of Worcester; two brothers, Lawrence P. Salmonsen, Jr. and Robert C. Salmonsen both of Douglas; two grandchildren, Michael and Stephanie Pierce, nieces and nephews. Her brother, Gary P. Salmonsen predeceased her.

Mrs. Anderson was born in Worcester the daughter of Lawrence P. Salmonsen, Sr. and Sarah M. McAllister. She graduated from Chapel Hill Prep School in Waltham and Marjorie Webster College of Physical Education in Washington, D.C. She was a physical education and swimming instructor for the Worcester Public Schools for 22 years. Mrs. Anderson was an associate member of the First Baptist Church in Worcester, volunteered for the American Red Cross for 25 years and served as a nurse’s aide during WW II and trained city lifeguards for 10 years. She was also a member of the Elin Temple, daughter of the Nile in Tampa, FL and volunteered at the Bayonet Point Hospital in Florida.

Ima’s funeral services are private. There are no visiting hours. Interment will be in All Faith’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701. To place an online condolence please visit www.lindquistlundin.com.
