Obituary
Mrs. Urkin died Monday morning at the Life Care Center of West Bridgewater, after a period of failing health. Born in Brockton, she was a daughter of the late Flaviano and Louise (Gennaco) Pilla. She attended Brockton schools and was a graduate of Brockton High School. During WWII, she had been employed as a riveter in the Defense Plant in Hanover. Mrs. Urkin had been employed in the Retail Business for 25 years in Chicago, moving back to Brockton 30 years ago. Upon her return to Brockton she was employed as a hostess at the Carlton House Inn for 10 years. She had been a volunteer at the Brockton Hospital for the past 20 years.
She was a communicant of Immanuel Baptist Church; enjoyedreading and time spent with family and friends.
She is survived by a sister Thelma A. Perry of Brockton and several nieces and nephews.
She was the wife of the late Louis F. Urkin and sister of the late Edmund, Ralph and Alphonse Pilla, Rose Baird and Martha Nordstrom.
