JANICE A. (PENDERGAST) MUZIJanice A. (Pendergast) Muzi, 64, a lifelong Newton and nursery school teacher, died Sunday Jan. 12, 2003 at the Newton Wellesley Hospital in Newton surrounded by her family.She graduated from Newton High School in 1956. She volunteered for the Red Cross and the Newton Public Schools and was a volunteer teacher in the Understanding Handicaps program in the Newton School system. She also taught nursery school at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Newtonville.She is survived by her husband Joseph, her daughter Andrea Muzi of Newton, her sisters Mary Waldvogel of MN, Evelyn Waldvogel of Newtonville, and her brother Edward Pendergast of Billerica, and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late infant Paul Muzi and sister of the late Doris Delaney, Phyllis Sharek, Charles Pendergast and William Pendergast. Relatives and friends will gather at the Eaton & Mackay Funeral Home 465 Centre St. Newton Corner on Wed Jan 13 at 8 am and proceed to a funeral mass in St. Bernard’s Church, West Newton at 9 AM. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Needham. Visiting hours will be in the funeral home Tues 4-8 PM.In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The Children’s Hospital 300 Longwood Ave Boston MA 02115 or the American Cancer Society 30 Speen St. Framingham MA 01701.
