GLOUCESTER: James A. Langley, 92, died Sunday, November 25, 2007 in the Seacoast Nursing and Retirement Center following an extended illness. He was the husband of the late Mary (Leite) Langley.
Born in Gloucester on February 11, 1915 he was the son of the late James E. and Edith (Silva) Langley. A lifelong resident of Gloucester, he was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was also a member of the Capt. Lester S. Wass Post #3, American Legion.
Mr. Langley was employed as a commercial fisherman for many years. He also once worked as a fish cutter at the former Imperial Fish Co. and the former Empire Fish Co. for many years.
He is survived by his son, Brian R. Langley of Gloucester, three grandchildren, Jeremy Langley, Bryan Langley, Jr. and his wife, Maria and Monique Langley all of Gloucester, five great-grandchildren, Jeremy Langley, Jr., Marissa Langley, Logan Langley, Dylan Langley and Madysen Langley, a brother, Richard Langley and a sister, Alice P. Nawfel both of Gloucester, four nephews, George and his wife, Donna Ingersoll of Gloucester, Phillip Marr, Jr. of Manchester-by-the-Sea, James A. Marr, Sr. and his wife Pamela of Gloucester and Paul and his wife, Cheryl Bertolino of Bradenton, FL, a niece, Adrianne and her husband, William Bradstreet of Danvers and many great-niece and nephews. He was also predeceased by two sisters, Edith F. Marr and Mary Willard and a niece, Paula Evans.
His funeral services will be held on Wednesday in the Beechbrook Cemetery, W. Gloucester at 11:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Hospice of the North Shore, 10 Elm St., Danvers, MA 01923.
