FREDERICK BENNETT JACKSON85 YEARS OLDFrederick Bennett Jackson of Chapin South Carolina, formerly of Needham died on Wednesday January 8, 2003. He was 85 years old. Born in Beverly MA, he was the son of the late Frederick and Laura Bennett Jackson. A 1943 graduate of Northeastern University, he received a degree in Civil Engineering. He served as a lieutenant in the Navy assigned to the 124th Naval Construction Battalion stationed in the Aleutian Islands. He was superintendent of all Administration Buildings at Harvard University and was in charge of facilities for the Harvard and Radcliff graduation each year. His paintings are on display at the Phillips Brooks House at Harvard University. He retired from Harvard in 1984 and served as President of the Harvard University Retirees Association. Mr. Jackson was a member of the Chapin Art Association. A fifty year Mason, he was a member of Norumbega and Brookline Lodges AF and AM in Newtonville and Order of Amaranth/Magnolia Court in Columbia South Carolina. He was the husband of Bobbie Hayes-Jackson and the late Patricia Evelyn ( Jensen ) Jackson and the father of Stephen Bennett Jackson of Palm Harbor FL and Pamela and her husband James Rochester of Irmo South Carolina. He was the grandfather of Gregory Lawrence and Michael Lawrence both of Boston. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday January 14 at the Christ Episcopal Church 1132 Highland Avenue Needham at 10 A.M. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting Hours in the Eaton Funeral 1351 Highland Avenue Needham on Monday from 6-8 P.M. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Wellesley. Memorials in Frederick’s name may be made to the Chapin Presbyterian Church, 107B Virginia Avenue, Chapin South Carolina, 29036
