Rosalie (Carbone) Morandi passed away after a long illness at the Winchester Nursing Center in Winchester on Friday morning, January 10, 2003. She was 91 years old. Mr. Morandi was born in Boston the daughter of Italian immigrants, the late Salvatore and Katrina Carbone.
She spent her first 11 years of her life in Boston´s North End. Her family then moved to Wilmington for a period and then settled in Burlington. She married when she was just 17 and she and her late husband Joseph made their home in Woburn for the better part of their lives.
Mrs. Morandi worked for over 40 years as a seamstress for Baron Aberson Co. On Kneeland St. In Boston. She was also a member of Woburn´s South End Italian Womens Club.
Mrs. Morandi adored her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was fondly known to everyone as “MA”. As well as being the family seamstress, she was a great cook and baker. Holidays and Sunday meals were always a special event at her home. She was happiest when she was surronded by her family.
Mrs. Morandi is the wife of the late Joseph Morandi. She is the loving mother of Angelo “Sonny” and his wife Genevieve Morandi of Winchester, Marianne and her husband Edward Hall of Del Ray Beach, Fl., Katherine and her husband Phil Rodriguez of Las Vegas, NV., Sister of Louis Carbone of Salem, NH., the late Josephine DeFillippo, Joseph, Peter, and Thomas Carbone. Also survived by 10 grandchildren and 26 Great grandchildren.
Her funeral will be from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St. Woburn, on Monday, January 13 at 9 a.m. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in the Immaculate Conception Church, 79 Sheridan Circle, Winchester at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting Hours Sunday 4 thru 8 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Calvary Cemeytery, Woburn.
