Obituary

Wolfeboro-Janice Ilene (Howard) Abbott, 81, of 39 Clipper Drive, formerly of Court Street, Laconia, died peacefully Wednesday afternoon, November 21, 2007 at Sunbridge of Wolfeboro Nursing Home.

Janice was born in Concord on May 16, 1926 the daughter of the late Harold and Bertha (Dunstone) Howard. She had been a resident of Laconia for most of her life, living the past 10 years in Alton Bay before moving to Wolfeboro.

Janice was a graduate of Concord High School. She held past memberships in the Laconia Emblem Club #80, Laconia VFW Post 1670 Auxiliary, Wilkins-Smith American Legion Post 1 Auxiliary in Laconia, and a member of The Congregational Church of Laconia.

Janice loved to read and would often read a book a night. She also enjoyed stamp collecting and doing puzzles, including crosswords as a favorite. She had a special place in her heart for the love of animals, as she had many cats and dogs during her lifetime.

Janice was predeceased by her husband Francis O. Abbott in 1999, and a daughter Linda Abbott-Garnett in 1997.

Janice is survived by her five children, Julie Jones and her husband Charles of Alton, Richard Abbott of Laconia, Shawn Abbott and his wife Bridget also of Laconia, and Harold and Jesse Braley. Many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews also survive Janice.

Funeral Services were held Friday, November 30, 2007 at The New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery Chapel, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Rte 3, Boscawen, NH at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Dr. Warren H. Bouton, pastor of The Congregational Church of Laconia officiated. There were no visiting hours.
