Obituary


Worcester- Frank K. Krikorian, 96 of 206 Highland St., died peacefully at UMASS-Memorial Medical Center-Memorial Campus after a short illness surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, November 21, 2007.

His loving and caring wife of 63 years, Harriet (Harootian) Krikorian, whom he married in 1939, passed away in 2002.

He leaves two sons, William J. Krikorian, with whom he lived, and Kenneth C. Krikorian and his wife, Dianne Chakarian, of Belmont.

He also leaves his sister, Mary Elloian of Falmouth; a brother, Leo Krikorian of Auburn; grandchildren, Zackari and Lanna; grandson, Kraig E. an his wife, Donna; granddaughter, Kimberlee J. and her husband, Robert J. Elbe; four great-grandchildren; and several nephews and a niece. His brother, Hiram, “Art” Krikorian predeceased him.

Frank was born in Worcester on April 28, 1911, a son of Arakel P. and Baidzar (Voparian) Krikorian and lived here all of his life except for the financially difficult depression period from 1927 to 1932 during which he moved with his family to West New York seeking employment in New York City.

Early in his working career he operated his own business, Frank’s Cleaners, with the help of his future wife, picking up and delivering tailored and cleaned garments, and later, he worked as a wire drawer for United States Steel Corp. in Worcester for 31 years, and then as a skate guard and zamboni machine operator for 10 years at the state skating rink on Lake Avenue for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Natural Resources, until his complete retirement in 1981.

Frank served honorably with the then newly established Massachusetts State Guard after the activation of the National Guard during World War II, and in his earlier ears, after returning to Worcester, he was a formidable district candidate for city councilor in the Chandler Street area.

The funeral will be held on Monday, November 26, 2007 from Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St., Worcester with a service at 11:00 a.m. in the Armenian Church of Our Saviour, 87 Salisbury Street. Calling hours at the funeral home are Sunday from 5-8 p.m. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery.
