Betty E. Eilert, 82, of La Grange, TX and formerly of New York, passed away on November 17, 2007. She was born September 3, 1925 in Houston, Texas, daughter of Jack Benjamin Gorman and Lena Fischer Gorman. She married Arthur Schmidt and lived in NY. On February 14, 1999, she married Fred Eilert in La Grange, TX. She was a retired bookkeeper and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. She is survived by her husband and 2 sons, Arthur Schmidt and his wife Beverly of New York and Joseph Schmidt and his wife Dawn, also of New York. Also, 4 stepsons, Ken Eilert and wife Karen of Seguin, John Eilert and wife Barbara, George Eilert and wife Irma, and Glenn Eilert and wife Tammy, all of La Grange; one sister Minnie Lou Gaeckler of Houston and brother, Jack Gorman and wife Doris of Columbus; one granddaughter, 3 grandsons, one great-granddaughter, 2 step-granddaughters, 6 step-grandsons, and 5 step-great-grandchildren. Services on Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in La Grange, Texas. Internment to follow on Wednesday, November 28, 2007 in Calverton National Cemetery in Calverton, New York.
