Roy A. Nutting, 83, of Hopedale, died Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence in Worcester. He was the husband of Merilyn R. (Moulton) Nutting for 25 years.
Born in Ayer on December 25, 1923, he was a son of the late Archer W. and Ines M. (Dole) Nutting. He was a resident of Hopedale for the past 24 years and formerly resided in Edgartown and Medway.
Mr. Nutting grew up in Ayer where he graduated from high school and spent many summers as a boy at Shady Oaks Farm in Medway.
Mr. Nutting was an Army veteran of WWII serving for 3 years.
He was the former owner of Braun’s Express, Inc. in Hopedale for 15 years and also, along with his wife, Merilyn, operated the Katama Airfield on Martha’s Vineyard for 14 years. He enjoyed a lifelong love of flying and was a longtime pilot and owned Beechcraft Bonanza’s for over 20 years.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Scott Nutting of Harvard, Donna Nutting of Medway, Jeffrey Nutting of Medway, Dawn Dube of River Ranch, Florida and Michael Dube of Cocoa, Florida.
He is also survived by seven grandchildren and one great-grandson.
He was the brother of the late Thelma Briggs.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of His Life which will be held at the Hopedale Community House, 43 Hope St. in Hopedale on Saturday, November 24 at 11 a.m.
