Carol Petterson Natale, age 75, of Gales Ferry, CT died peacefully at home, with her family around her, on Sunday, November 11.
Carol was born November 11, 1932, in Brooklyn, NY to the late Carl and Muriel Smith Petterson. She graduated from Crosby High School, in Waterbury, CT in 1949, and received a B.S. in Education from Danbury State Teachers College in 1954. This was followed later by an M.A. in Education from Connecticut College in 1983.
Carol was a primary school teacher for 30 years, most recently for Dr. Charles Barnum School in Groton CT. After retiring, Carol and her husband became winter residents of Naples, FL and traveled extensively during the rest of the year. In addition to a love of travel, both Carol and her husband enjoyed concerts, theater, and film.
She is predeceased by her husband James. She is survived by her daughter Pamela Natale of New London, CT, and two sons, David Natale and Lynn Regan of Windsor, CT and Peter and Jennifer Natale of Kinnelon, NJ. Carol is also survived by two sisters, Judith and Bill Rimick of Watertown, CT and Lynn and John Eriquez of Sunset Beach, NC, and by her brother-in-law John Natale of Port St. Lucie, FL.
She was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa, a professional women educators sorority, The Association of Retired Teachers of Connecticut (ARTC) and The New London County Retired Teachers Association (NLCRTA).
Carol will be cremated and her ashes will be combined with her husband's, to be interred together in a private family service at Elm Grove Cemetery in Mystic CT.
