Beloved wife of the late Richard A. McGivern. Loving mother of Mary L. Bell and her husband Matthew J. of Hingham. Sister of the late John Meade. Also survived by 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and two nieces.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Keohane Funeral Home 785 Hancock St. , WOLLASTON Thursday at 9:15 AM. Funeral Mass from St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Quincy at 10 AM.
Visiting hours Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester.
Anne worked for the City of Boston first at the Patrick Campbell School then the Day School for Immigrants and Physically Handicapped and finally at Roslindale High School. Prior to her work at the schools and before she was married Anne worked at the Massachusetts Department of Agriculture. She graduated from Girls High School class of 1927 and attended most of her reunions and was planning to attend this October. She was active in the CYO Program since its inception in the 1940's and received an award for her service. She was also very active in the Girl Scouts and was a leader for many years. She received the Marion Medal Award for her work with Catholic girls in the Girl Scout program. She was also a camp counselor and director of camps at St. Mark's Girl Scout Camp. Anne was recognized in the late 1980's for her work with the Archdiocese of Boston's Catholic Youth Programs and she was presented the Pro Deo et Juventute Award. Mrs. McGivern was also very active in her church, Our Lady of Good Counsel, Quincy. She was a founding member of the choir and sang on Christmas Eve this past year. She was a Eucaristic Minister and a daily Communicant for many years up until two weeks ago. She hand sewed hundreds of baptismal robes for the church which are worn by babies at their baptism. She also hand sewed all of her own clothing. Anne loved life and most of all her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
