Joe Lee Silas Sigler, age 87, of Water Valley, MS died Thursday, November 8, 2007 at Saint Vincent’s Medical Center North in Sherwood, AR. Silas was born in Drew, MS to the late Hubbard Silas and Violet Elizabeth Reel Sigler. He was a retired Forklift Driver (High Stacker) and a veteran of the U. S. Army who served during WWII. He also was a lifetime member of the VFW.
The visitation will be held Sunday, November 11, 2007 at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm in Henry Chapel. The committal service will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery with grandsons; David Bauman, Richard Leazer, Jeremy Leazer, Clinton Leazer, Ethan Kachel, John Vance, Kenny Sigler, and Roger Holcomb serving as pallbearers.
Mr. Sigler is survived by six daughters, Ethel Virginia Shannon of Cabot, AR, Peggy Ann McDonald of Fresno, CA, Linda Carolyn Espinosa of Modesto, CA, Kathleen S. “Kathy” Dunn of Water Valley, MS; Barbara Joyce Leazer of Riverbank, CA and Brenda J. Kachel of Ceres, CA; a son, Hubbard Claude “Bud” Sigler of Oakdale, CA; four sisters, Mary Lee Fraize of Rena Laura, MS, Ella Mae Romantino of Denham Springs, LA, Virginia Whiddon of Summerall, MS and Evie Lois “Kandace” Norton of Gulfport, MS; four brothers, Lee Anderson “Happy” Sigler of Water Valley, MS, Robert Noel Sigler of Gulfport, MS, Pete Sigler of Bakersfield, CA and Sam Sigler of Gulfport, MS; two step-brothers, Freddie and James White both of Pontotoc, MS; a step-sister, Laura May of Pontotoc, MS; 20 grandchildren; 62 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two wives, Minnie Lorena Sigler and Gladys Marie Sigler; three brothers, Mike Senate Jenkins, James Williams, and Hubbard Joel Sigler; and a step-brother, Bill White.
