New Bedford – James W. "Jim" Phillips, 82, of New Bedford died November 7, 2007 at St Luke’s Hospital. He was the widower of Mary C. (Furtado) Phillips and the former husband of Louise D. (Place) Phillips.
Mr. Phillips was born in New Bedford, son of the late James W. and Nina E. (Haskell) Phillips, and resided in the greater New Bedford area all of his life. He was owner/operator of the former Phillips Farms until his retirement after which he went on to work at Stop & Shop for several years. He enjoyed dancing and was an avid Red Sox fan.
Survivors include a daughter: Kathleen M. Frias of New Bedford; 4 sons: James W. Phillips of N. Dartmouth, Michael J. Phillips of New Bedford, Wayne J. Phillips of New Bedford and Jonathon Phillips of New Bedford; 12 grandchildren: Kristie Phillips, Michael Phillips, Megan Hall, Alison Letton, Amanda Phillips, Tabitha Phillips, Tyrone Mendes, Shaquille Mendes, and Adam Frias, Matthew Frias, Michael Frias and Abbey Frias; 7 great-grandchildren: Ari-anna, Anyis, Noah, Shane, Drew, Kassidy and Gretchen; and several nieces & nephews.
He was brother of the late Marion Phillips and grandfather of the late Wayne Phillips, Jr.

Funeral services on Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. at the Kirby Funeral Home.
Interment in Pine Grove Cemetery, N. Dartmouth.
