Obituary

Mr. Richard C. Abbott beloved husband of Linda P. (Magee) Abbott and 43 year resident of Medford, died at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston on November 5, 2007. He was 65 years old.
Born in Boston, Massachusetts, on December 6, 1941, he was a beloved son of the late Earl and Thelma (Black) Abbott. Mr. Abbott was a graduate of Newbury College in Boston and served in the US Army during Vietnam. He was employed by the US Postal Service for more than 33 years, retiring from Boston as supervisor in 1996.
In his spare time, Mr. Abbott enjoyed woodworking, his two cats and going to the beach. He also enjoyed traveling with his beloved wife, Linda and was a member of the Irish American Club in Malden.
Besides his loving wife, Linda, he was the father of Elaine R. Abbott, David E. Abbott and Susan M. Abbott all of Medford, devoted brother of Virginia Abbott of Plymouth, Linda Jenkins of Uxbridge and the late Robert Abbott, cherished grandfather of Jacquelin Carstens and also survived by many nieces and nephews.
His funeral service was celebrated in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, Friday, November 9, 2007, at 10 AM. Many relatives and friends attended. Visiting hours were Thursday, November 8, 2007, from 4 to 8 PM. Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Vietnam Army Veteran.
