Lucille “Lucy” Spicer, 70, of Valdosta, died Monday, November 5, at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta.
Graveside services will be held 11 AM Wednesday at Brushy Creek Church Cemetery, Irwin County with Elder Edward McIntyre officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Ms. Spicer was born January 5, 1937 in Creston, Montana to the late Jacob E. and Ida M. Sutter Gibson. She had lived in Valdosta since 1984 moving from Ocilla. She was a clerk at the Valdosta Daily Times, a former secretary for Spicer’s Abattoir in Ocilla, and a former employee of Saft America Battery Plant in Valdosta. Ms. Spicer was a member of AARP Fifty Plus. She was an avid gardener and a member of the Baptist faith.
Ms. Spicer is survived by her companion: Sam Green of Valdosta; one daughter and son-in-law: Kay and Allen Branch of Irwinville; two sons and a daughter-in-law: Alvin and Naomi Spicer of Ocilla and Jamie Spicer of Valdosta; four grandchildren; two brothers and a sister-in-law: Larry and Helen Mast of Lindale, Texas and Fred Gibson of Kalispell, Montana; one sister and brother-in-law: Nancy and Ed Sharpe of Washington State; sister-in-law and her spouse: Florence and Joe Davis of Tifton; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister: Frances Derrick.
