Obituary

Mrs. Laura Sue Eggleston was born July 23, 1927 in Huntsville, Alabama to the late Earl Moore and Muzetta Fisher Moore. After the passing of her mother, while still in infancy, was raised by her father and grandmother. She attended Councill High School and later as a young lady, during WWII, worked at the Huntsville Arsenal, what is now known as Redstone Arsenal.

At an early age, Laura confessed hope in Christ and joined Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church and was baptized in 1945 under the pastoralship of Pastor O. D. Boone and served faithfully.

After the reduction in force at the arsenal and many were laid off, she decided to move to Dayton, Ohio where many of her relatives lived. She lived and worked in Dayton for many years until the illness of her loving grandmother, Sue Jean Timmons Moore, compelled her to return to Huntsville to be with and take care of her.

Laura was a people person, she never met a stranger that she couldn’t say a kind word to. Taking care of people was the enjoyment of her life and she always had a smile.

After a long illness and many pains, the Master decided it was time to call Laura home. Sunday morning, November 4, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. in the home of Frank and Betty Brandon, she went to sleep.

Laura leaves to cherish fond and loving memories a host of cousins: Franklin R. (Betty) Brandon of Huntsville, AL, Oscar (Vivian) McDonald of Dayton, OH, Shelia Johnson of Huntsville, AL, Theado (Ron) Fletcher of Madison, AL, Betty Jean Russell, Roberta Timmons, Cebell (Leo) Pride, all of Madison, AL and George Clay Jr. of Huntsville, AL; a special friend, Mrs. Everlyn Jackson of Dayton, OH.

Funeral services for Ms. Eggleston will be held at 1200 Noon on Friday, November 9, 2007 at Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. O. Wendell Davis officiating. Interment will be in Valley View Memory Gardens.
