Obituary

Bonita Renae Butler Elliot was born on September 4, 1965 in Germany. She was called home to be with the Father on October 30, 2007. As a young child, she was adopted by Fleming Butler and the late Gracie Butler, whose hearts she truly touched.

She came to the United States at a tender age and was raised in Huntsville, Alabama. Bonita graduated from S. R. Butler High School. She attended Alabama A&M University where she excelled in the matching band as a flute player. Bonita married the late Charles Jeffrey Elliot in 1987 and moved to Tacoma Washington. She eventually settled in Huntsville, the town of her youth.

Bonita accepted Christ as her personal savoir and kept a close and personal relationship with the Lord throughout her life. As a member of St. John African Methodist Episcopal Church, she was active in the YPD and other groups until she became ill.

Bonita was preceded in death by her mother, Gracie and her husband, Charles.

Bonita leaves to cherish her memory her father, Fleming Butler of Cleveland, Ohio; her son, Mario Butler of Carlsbad, California; a daughter, Courtney Elliott of Huntsville; her brother, Glenn of Huntsville; and her niece, Deomica of Huntsville; and many additional relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Ms. Bonnie Butler Elliott will be held at 1200 Noon on Saturday, November 10, 2007 at St. John A.M.E. Church with Reverend Dr. Homer L. McCall officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, November 9, 2007 from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. from the Nelms Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Vahalla Memory Gardens.
