TEWKSBURY - Helen B. (Lisavich) McAskill, age 75, died Friday, Jan. 3, at her home,surrounded by her family and friends, after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was the wife of thelate Paul J. McAskill, who died in July 1989.
She was born in Hazelton, PA, the daughter of the late Mary and Walter Lisavich. She was raisedin Pennsylvania, but had resided in Tewksbury since 1959.
She was the founder and owner of the Helen McAskill Real Estate for more than 25 years. Sheclosed the agency upon retirement 5 years ago. During her career, she was a member of theGreater Lowell Real Estate Association. In her earlier years she had also owned the McAskillGift Shop on Merrimack Street in Lowell.
She was an accomplished tennis player throughout her life. She was also active in town affairs, asthe spouse of Paul McAskill, who served on numerous Town Boards and building committees. The Senior Drop-In Center building in Tewksbury was named in his honor.
Mrs. McAskill was a communicant of St. William’s Church.
She is survived by a son, Paul J. McAskill Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla., one daughter, Pam McAskill ofTewksbury, one sister Irene Riberdy of Andover, one granddaughter, Susie McAskill ofTewksbury, and numerous dear friends throughout the Merrimack Valley.
Her Funeral Mass was held Monday, Jan. 6. in St. William’s Church. Interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, No.Tewksbury.
