Ophelia Luke Rooks Knight, 77, of Tifton died Tuesday, October 30, 2007, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 3, 2007, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Joe Crumley will officiate with burial to follow in Saint Luke Cemetery in Alapaha. Pallbearers will be Donald Cooner, Jr., Michael James Cooner, Aaron Belisle, Duane Brooks, Kenny Eaton, Jr., and Alex Griffin. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Richard Pierzchajlo and Tommy Meredith. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 2, 2007, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Ms. Knight was born on September 13, 1930 in Berrien County and was the daughter of Richard Luke and Susie Suggs Luke, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Earl Rooks; four brothers; and one sister. She was a homemaker and a member of Tift Avenue Church of God.
Ms. Knight is survived by one son and daughter-in-law: Donald Earl and Susan Rooks of Leesburg; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Nancy and Ernie Buttram of Jacksonville, Florida, Susan Chambers of Tifton, and Teresa and Donald Cooner of Lake City, Florida; one sister and brother-in-law, Othel and David Wallace of Tifton; ten grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.
