Myrtle D. Adkison, 83, of Fitzgerald, died Tuesday, October 30, 2007 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, November 1, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with Rev. Dudley Cook and Rev. James Tyson officiating. Interment will follow in Salem Cemetery, Ben Hill County. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Adkison was born October 30, 1924 in Lowndes County, to the late Zekiel A. and Sally Adkison Durley. She was a farmer, homemaker and had lived in the community most of her life. Mrs. Adkison was an avid fisherman who loved to read, cook and sew. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church.
Mrs. Adkison is survived by her children and their spouses, Rachel A. and Grady Walker of Albany, James & Phyllis Adkison, Lewis & Margret Adkison, Daphine A. Aycock and Wilbur Adkison all of Fitzgerald; 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Adkison, daughter, Lavada Adkison and son-in-law, Kenneth Aycock.
