Bristol, R.I. - Manuel Ventura, aged 87 years, died Sunday October 28, 2007, at the R.I. Veterans Home, in Bristol, R.I. He was the brother of David Ventura and Lillian R. Silva both of New Bedford. He was the father of Manuel Ventura Jr., Robert, Gilbert, Kenneth and Susan Ventura. He was the brother of the late Joseph Rapoza, Leonard Vieira, Mary Souza, Judith Christiansson and Lena Carreira. Mr. Ventura also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Ventura was a son of the late Jose and Mariana (DeMedeiros) Ventura. He was born in New Bedford and lived both here and Rhode Island for many years. Mr. Ventura was a carpenter that worked for various construction companies. He was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran.
In accordance with his wishes he was be cremated.
Graveside services for Mr. Ventura will be held at Rural Cemetery in the Veterans Section of the cemetery at 11 A.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Please meet at the main gate, located at the corner of Dartmouth and Grape Streets.
