Obituary

Rex Tracy McGraw, Sr., 91, of Mattapoisett died December 29, 2002 at home.

He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Marie Ann (Berg) McGraw.

Born on April 24, 1911, in Madrid, Nebraska, the son of the late Myrle (Tracy) and John Edgar McGraw, he and his family moved to Howard, New York when he was 5 years old. He attended Hornell area schools and graduated from Hornell High School where he was a member of both the football and basketball teams.

He and his wife moved to Mattapoisett in 1982.

Mr. McGraw was formerly employed as an accountant for the Erie Railroad. Upon retiring from the Railroad, he worked as a floor manager for Sears, Roebuck & Company until his retirement in 1975.

He was a member of the Hornell Chapter of Masons, He enjoyed playing golf and was a charter member and past president of the PAR-TEE Golf Association.

He enjoyed spending time with hid family, especially watching the great-grandchildren's antics.

Survivors include 2 sons, Rex Tracy McGraw, Jr. of Wareham, and Jack William McGraw, Sr., and his wife Jacqueline Donlon McGraw, of Mattapoisett; 4 grandchildren, Jack William McGraw, Jr., and his wife Jean Whitcomb McGraw, of Toronto, Canada, Mark Donlon McGraw, and his wife Paula Servais McGraw, of New Bedford, Matthew Charles McGraw, and his wife Sharon Rebello McGraw, of Fairhaven, and Marie-Elizabeth McGraw of Mattapoisett; 8 great-grandchildren, Luke and Roy McGraw, both of Fairhaven, Andrew, Michael, Patrick and Kate McGraw, all of New Bedford, Christopher McGraw of Concord, NH, and Stephanie McGraw Bendoraitis of San Antonio, Texas; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Potter McGraw, formerly of Wellsville, NY.

He was the brother of the late Jack McGraw and Gaye McGraw Eikner.

His family will receive guests on Friday, Jan. 10, 2003, from 4-6 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6), Mattapoisett, to be followed by a Memorial Service at 6 PM. Burial will take place on Wednesday, April 23, 2003, at 3 PM in Howard Cemetery, Hornell, NY.
