Marilyn Hope (Brown) Nummi, 72, of Hanson died Friday, Oct.19, at Jordan Hospital in Plymouth. She was the wife of the late Rudolph Nummi. Born December 16, 1934, in Melrose, she was the daughter of Frederick Russell and Wilda (Keevey) Brown. A graduate of Whitman High School, she resided in Hanson for most of her life. After high school, she began working in banking, rising to the position of Vice President for Security for Plymouth-Home National Bank. She retired from this position following one of the bank’s mergers. Mrs. Nummi was very active in the Vida Rebekah Lodge #43 in Abington, serving as Past Noble Grand and Past District Deputy President. Most recently she was the lodge’s secretary. For a number of years she taught Sunday school at Bryantville Methodist Church and participated in the annual church fair. An avid cat lover, she was a dedicated supporter of the Standish Humane Society of Duxbury. Mrs. Nummi is survived by her cousin Kenneth Brown, his wife Donna and their daughter Meghan of Bryantville; a niece, Lee Sparks, and her children Jennifer and Nathaniel, of Texas; her brother-in-law Axel Nummi and his wife Jean of WA. She will also be sadly missed by her dear friends Arlene Caswell, George Derby, Paul Pedretti, and Gary Stetson. A funeral service will be at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 7 Mattakeesett St. (Rt. 14) Pembroke, at 11:00AM, on Wednesday, October 24th. Interment to follow at Fern Hill Cemetery in Hanson.
