Robert W. Azevedo, of West Roxbury, died October 20, 2007 at his home. He was 78. He was the beloved husband of the late Rita (Nemensky) Azevedo.
Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Emanuel and Helen (Johnson) Azevedo. A longtime West Roxbury, Mr. Azevedo was a World War II Veteran, serving in the U.S. Coast Guard. He worked as a machinist for the U.S. Coast Guard.
He was the devoted father of Janet A. Gillies and her husband Stephen of Carlisle. Grandfather of Jenna and John Gillies of Carlisle. Sister of the late Helen Agnes Azevedo.
Funeral from the P.E. Murray-George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 2000 Centre St., West Roxbury, Wednesday at 10:00 AM. Funeral Service in the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 21 Stratford St., West Roxbury, at 11:00 AM. Rev. Brian Murdoch will officiate. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours at the funeral home, Tuesday, from 7-9 PM. Interment in the Gethsemane Cemetery, West Roxbury. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Disabled American War Veterans, P.O.
