NOANK: Nina Emilia (Bengtson) Johnson, age 99, of 205 Elm Street, Noank, died Friday, October 19th at Mary Elizabeth Nursing Center.
She was born in Ridgway, PA, October 27, 1907, the daughter of Emil and Edith Bengtson. A Registered Nurse, she worked in obstetrics at Jamestown (NY) General Hospital until her retirement in 1960. She was an active participant in the Lutheran Church, especially women's activities where she frequently became the organization's president.
Her husband, Kenneth P. Johnson, died on July 2, 1985.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Kenneth and Jacquelyn Johnson, of Lutherville, MD and by a daughter and son-in-law, Joanne and Robert Erickson, of Gales Ferry, CT.
She is survived by seven grandchildren: Peter, Thomas, Diane, and Douglas Johnson; David Erickson, Marcia Marien, and Julie Colli; and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00am on Saturday, October 27th at St. Luke Lutheran Church, Route 12 & Clark Lane, Gales Ferry The family will greet relatives and friends at a reception following the service.
