New Bedford-Maria Goretti Estrela died Thursday October 18, 2007 at home, surround by her loving family. She was the wife of Jose Estrela of New Bedford. She was the mother of Robert and his wife Donaria Estrela , Kevin Estrela, and Lisa Estrela and her husband Luis Rodrigues, all of New Bedford. She is also survived by 7grandchildren. Maria’s mother-in-law was Deolinda B. Estrela, and sister-in-law is Maria R. Tavares. She is survived by several cousins.
Mrs. Estrela was the daughter of the late Faustino and Clotilde (De Oliveira) de Melo. She was born in Ribeira Grande Sao Miguel Azores, and has lived here for 42 years. She was a stitcher for Belmont Mfg., and Marco Clothing Mfg. before her illness.
Mrs. Estrela’s Funeral is from the Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. on Saturday at 9:00 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Friday from 6-9 P.M.
