Audrey A. Slayton York Audrey A. Slayton York, 90, Clarksville, died Wednesday, October 17, 2007, at Gateway Medical Center. The funeral will be held at 11 am today at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Athansius Abanulo officiating. Burial will be in Ft. Benning Post Cemetery, Columbus, GA. Visitation will be from 10 am until the hour of the service today at the church. Neal-Tarpley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. She was born November 30, 1916 in Ft. Ethan-Allen, Vermont. She was the daughter of Barney D. Slayton and Marguerite Trepanier Slayton.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lt.C James York (Ret) and a brother Maj. Barney W. Slayton (Ret). She was a Captain with the US Army Nurses Corp having served during WWII. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, VFW #4895, the DAV, and a member of the Flying Tigers During WWII in Kuming, China. Survivors include a brother, Msg William M. Slayton (Ret), Waverly Hall, GA; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Mike Myers, Clarksville. Family and Friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the VFW # 4895. If desired, memorials can be made to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 709 Franklin Church, Clarksville, TN 37040.
