Obituary

Worcester- Beatrice B. "Bea" (Savage) Anton, 83, of 555 Plantation Street, formerly of 3 Huron Avenue, died Sunday, Dec. 29, in Midcoast Hospital, Brunswick, Maine, after an illness.

She leaves her husband of 57 years, Anthony G. "Tony" Anton; two sons, Ronald P. Anton of Topsham, Maine, and Dennis A. Anton of Clermont, Florida; a daughter, Rosemary A. Gentile of Boxford; 7 grandchildren; nephews and nieces; grandnephews and grandnieces. Three brothers, Steven G. Savage of Bloomington, Indiana, Benjamin C. Savage of Worcester, and Peter P. Savage of Worcester, all predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Peter A. and Rozalia (Krowelski) Matusiewicz, and lived here all her life. She graduated from Commerce High School.

Mrs. Anton was a clerk typist for the Worcester Police Department for 20 years, retiring in 1984. She was previously a warden for the Worcester Election Commission for 30 years.

She was a lifetime member of St. Casimir's Catholic Parish and a member of its choir and was a past president of it's former Mothers Guild. She was a member of the Knights of Lithuania Council 26, the Lithuanian Charitable Society, the Lithuanian Womens Club, and the Young at Heart Group of the Salvation Army. She was an auxiliary member of the Sisters of St. Casimir, Chicago. She was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons, the Retired State, County, and Municipal Employees Association, and a former director of the Worcester Clerks Association.

The funeral will be held Thursday, Jan. 2, from Henry-Dirsa Funeral Home, 33 Ward Street, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Casimir's Church, 41 Providence Street. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours are from 2 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 1, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Casimir's Church, 41 Providence Street, Worcester, MA 01604.
