Obituary

John Pavao, 75, of Westport. Husband of Dolores (Medeiros) Pavao. Passed away Oct. 11, 2007 in Providence, RI. Born in Fall River and a Westport resident for 52 years. Son of the late Manuel & Mary (Couit) Pavao. Before retiring, he worked in the Shipping & Receiving Dept. at Duro Finishing. Previously, he worked at Desilets Plumbing & Stella Anne Frocks. He was a member of St. George’s Church & a 4th degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus James E Cassidy Council. He was a member of the American Legion & a lifetime member of the St. Isidore Farmers Council. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard during the Viet-Nam Era & was activated during the Berlin Crisis.

Besides his wife of Westport, he is survived by 1 daughter: Donna & her husband George Hancock, Jr. of Westport. l sister: Irene Foss of Providence. 7 Grandchildren: Joshua Pavao & Fiancé Melissa Charest, Matthew Abrantes, Adam Fernandes, George Hancock III, Austin Hancock, Alphonse Hathaway, & Linda Dufresne. l Great Granddaughter: Hannah Pavao. Several nieces & nephews. He was also father of the late Catherine Pavao Hathaway, and brother of the late Alfred, George, William, & Diane Pavao.

His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St. Monday at 8:00 A.M. followed by a funeral mass in St. George’s Church, Westport at 9:00 A.M. Interment in Beech Grove Cemetery. Calling hours Sunday 4-8 P.M.
