Mr.Joseph DeSimone, age 91, died Tuesday evening, at a local nursing home. He was the husband of the late Rita M. (Dunn) DeSimone.
He was born in Lawrence, March 16, 1916, a son of the late Cosmo and Anna (Feroce) DeSimone.
Mr. DeSimone was a lifelong resident of Lowell and was a former communicant of St. Patrick's Church.
Prior to his retirement he was employed as a clothes presser at Greico Brothers Company of Lawrence for over 45 years. He was a member of the Amalgated Clothing and Textile Workers Union.
Mr. Desimone enjoyed playing cribbage and spending time with his friends at the SAC Club in Lowell.
He is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Ann M. and Frank Furtado of Chelmsford, Lucille P. Surprenant and her companion, Frank Lipomi, both of Lowell, and Mary and Chaz Doughty of Tyngsboro; two sisters, Josephine DeQuattro of Connecticut, and Connie DeSimone of Lawrence; also eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Dr. Joseph R. DeSimone, grandfather of the late Kimberley Johnstone and brother of the late Antoinette DeCesare.
Relatives and friends may call at the M. R. LAURIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St., Lowell on Friday morning, Oct. 12, from 7:30 - 8:30am. followed by a Funeral Mass at 9am at St. John The Evangelist Church, N. Chelmsford. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
