Fall River - Gladys E. (Gray) Pettey, 93, of Westport passed away Monday, October 8, 2007 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the widow of Robert L. Pettey.
Born in Tiverton, RI, daughter of the late Frank W. and Mary Lida (Coggeshall) Gray, she had lived in Westport for the last 60 years. Mrs. Pettey was a 1931 graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School and a 1935 graduate of the former Rhode Island College of Education. Prior to retirement, she was a teacher for the Portsmouth, RI school system. She was a former member of the Noquochoke Senior Citizens of Westport. An avid gardener, she enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family.
Survivors include a daughter: Mary Lida DeMello-Wheaton of Westport; 5 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Arthur Gray and Dorothy Davis.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Friday, October 12, 2007 at the Potter Funeral Home at 7:30 P.M.
Calling hours will be Friday from 5 - 7:30 P.M. prior to the service.
Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
