Obituary

WORCESTER-Paul Kotseas, 80, of 22 Prudential Road, died Tuesday, October 2nd in UMass-Memorial Hospital. He leaves his wife of 57 years, Athina (Nanchu) Kotseas, 2 sons, Harry P., his wife Sharon and their children, Christina and Diana Kotseas; John M., his wife Cosette and their children, John and Stephanie Kotseas; his daughter, Patty, wife of Bill and their children, Alexis, Alana and Angela Giannopoulos; his brother Charles H. and his wife Helen Kotseas of Worcester; 4 sisters, Mary, wife of George Angelis of Worcester, Venus Peters Schubiger, her husband Bruno Schubiger of Worcester, Eugenia, wife of Steve Maintanis of Auburn; and Georgia Anthony of Worcester and many nephews and nieces. Two sisters, Claire Donoghue and Helen Nicas predeceased him.

He was born in Worcester the son of Harry M. and Evangeline (Tsetsis) Kotseas. Mr. Kotseas was a graduate of Shrewsbury High School, and was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving as a Yeoman in the Amphibious Forces. He and his brother owned and operated Phillips Markets in Auburn and Whitinsville for 50 years before retiring. Mr. Kotseas was a member and benefactor of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral and a Mason with the Joel Prouty Lodge. Paul enjoyed traveling, camping and skiing with his family. He especially loved time spent at his Cape home, with his family and grandchildren; his trips to Mohegan Sun and Foxwood Casinos with his brother, sisters and brother-in-law Steve. He enjoyed repairing antique clocks, radios and lamps and had the ability to fix almost anything. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Meyer, Maggie and the staff of the Congestive Heart Failure Clinic at UMass and to those who cared for him.

The funeral is Friday, October 5th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a service at 10:00 AM in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday, October 4th from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
