Obituary

Marilyn F.(Gibbons) Blackwell, 72, a recent resident of East Hampstead, N.H. and a former longtime resident of Lawrence, MA passed away at her home on Sunday, September 30th, 2007 after a brief illness.


She was born on August 4th, 1935 in Lawrence, MA to William and Blanche (Cartier) Gibbons. She was educated in the Bruce Grammar School in Lawrence, MA and graduated of Lawrence High School in 1952. Mrs. Blackwell received an Associate’s degree from Fisher Junior College in 1954 and worked for Raytheon Corp. in Andover, MA until her retirement.


She loved and adored her grand children, especially spending time with them at her Lake House on Kingston Lake in New Hampshire. According to her family she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who had a heart full of kindness. She was a long time parishioner of St. Augustine Church in the Tower Hill Section of Lawrence, MA.


She is the wife of the late John M. Blackwell Sr. and is survived by her two children her daughter: Jean M. and her husband John P. Giannopoulos of East Hampstead, NH and her son John M., Jr. and his wife Sharon M. Blackwell of Hampstead, NH as well as eight grand children Gregory, Lindsey, Christina, Alexis, and Julie Giannopoulos and Nicole, Jonathan & Michaela Blackwell. Mrs. Blackwell is also survived by her sister Theresa Gibbons of Hampstead, NH and her brother: Thomas and his wife Candy Gibbons of Spartanburg, South Carolina. Sister-in-law Midge Gibbons and her husband John Dolan of Peterborough, NH as well as several nieces, nephews and one Aunt. She was the sister of the late William Gibbons, Jr.


A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 5th, 2007 at 11:00am in Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish in St. Augustine Chapel, 128 Ames Street, Lawrence, MA. 01841 and a burial will follow in the Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, North Andover, MA.
