Daisy E. (Keaton) Evans, 91, departed this earth, Friday, September 28, 2007 at the Braemoor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Brockton after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Jesse J. Evans. Born in Blackshear, GA, she was educated in Waycross, GA Schools. Mrs. Evans was a resident of Ann Arbor, MI from 1942 until 2001, when she moved to Stoughton. The Ann Arbor Woman of the Year in 1965, Mrs. Evans was a beloved employee of the Goodyear Department Store and a long and energetic member of the Second Baptist Church in Ann Arbor. She was a member of the Golden Friendship Club and the Progressive Club of the church. Mrs. Evans will be remembered fondly for her singing voice and her tireless direction of the church youth choir for more than thirty years.
Mrs. Evans is survived by her daughter Delores L. Staton of Stoughton. She was the aunt of Myra Shaw and her husband Thomas of Springfield, MA, Woodrow Keaton of Croydon, IN, Levi Keaton and his wife Patti of New Brighton, PA, Winston Keaton and his wife Mildred of Vienna, GA, Willis and Frankie Patton of Ann Arbor, MI, and the Smith Family of Pontiac, MI. She is also survived by several grandnieces, grandnephews, her church family and her Goodyear Family and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held in the 2nd Baptist Church, Ann Arbor, MI on Friday, October 5 at 10 AM. Local arrangements by Farley Funeral Home, Stoughton. Donations in Daisy’s name may be made to Alzheimer’s Assn, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472. Burial will be at United Memorial Gardens in Plymouth, MI.
